1 Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-one years. His mother's name was Jedidah daughter of Adaiah; she was from Bozkath.

  요시야가 왕위에 오를 때에 나이가 팔 세라 예루살렘에서 삼십일 년간 다스리니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 여디다요 보스갓 아다야의 딸이더라

 

2 He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in all the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left.

  요시야가 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행하여 그의 조상 다윗의 모든 길로 행하고 좌우로 치우치지 아니하였더라

 

3 In the eighteenth year of his reign, King Josiah sent the secretary, Shaphan son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, to the temple of the LORD. He said:

  요시야 왕 열여덟째 해에 왕이 므술람의 손자 아살리야의 아들 서기관 사반을 여호와의 성전에 보내며 이르되

 

4 "Go up to Hilkiah the high priest and have him get ready the money that has been brought into the temple of the LORD, which the doorkeepers have collected from the people.

  너는 대제사장 힐기야에게 올라가서 백성이 여호와의 성전에 드린 은 곧 문 지킨 자가 수납한 은을 계산하여

 

5 Have them entrust it to the men appointed to supervise the work on the temple. And have these men pay the workers who repair the temple of the LORD -

  여호와의 성전을 맡은 감독자의 손에 넘겨 그들이 여호와의 성전에 있는 작업자에게 주어 성전에 부숴진 것을 수리하게 하되

 

6 the carpenters, the builders and the masons. Also have them purchase timber and dressed stone to repair the temple.

  곧 목수와 건축자와 미장이에게 주게 하고 또 재목과 다듬은 돌을 사서 그 성전을 수리하게 하라

 

7 But they need not account for the money entrusted to them, because they are acting faithfully."

  그러나 그들의 손에 맡긴 은을 회계하지 말지니 이는 그들이 진실하게 행함이니라

 

 

 

 

8 Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the secretary, "I have found the Book of the Law in the temple of the LORD." He gave it to Shaphan, who read it.

  대제사장 힐기야가 서기관 사반에게 이르되 내가 여호와의 성전에서 율법책을 발견하였노라 하고 힐기야가 그 책을 사반에게 주니 사반이 읽으니라

 

9 Then Shaphan the secretary went to the king and reported to him: "Your officials have paid out the money that was in the temple of the LORD and have entrusted it to the workers and supervisors at the temple."

  서기관 사반이 왕에게 돌아가서 보고하여 이르되 왕의 신복들이 성전에서 찾아낸 돈을 쏟아 여호와의 성전을 맡은 감독자의 손에 맡겼나이다 하고

 

10 Then Shaphan the secretary informed the king, "Hilkiah the priest has given me a book." And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king.

  또 서기관 사반이 왕에게 말하여 이르되 제사장 힐기야가 내게 책을 주더이다 하고 사반이 왕의 앞에서 읽으매

 

11 When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his robes.

  왕이 율법책의 말을 듣자 곧 그의 옷을 찢으니라

 

12 He gave these orders to Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Acbor son of Micaiah, Shaphan the secretary and Asaiah the king's attendant:

  왕이 제사장 힐기야와 사반의 아들 아히감과 미가야의 아들 악볼과 서기관 사반과 왕의 시종 아사야에게 명령하여 이르되

 

13 "Go and inquire of the LORD for me and for the people and for all Judah about what is written in this book that has been found. Great is the LORD's anger that burns against us because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written there concerning us."

  너희는 가서 나와 백성과 온 유다를 위하여 이 발견한 책의 말씀에 대하여 여호와께 물으라 우리 조상들이 이 책의 말씀을 듣지 아니하며 이 책에 우리를 위하여 기록된 모든 것을 행하지 아니하였으므로 여호와께서 우리에게 내리신 진노가 크도다

 

14 Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Acbor, Shaphan and Asaiah went to speak to the prophetess Huldah, who was the wife of Shallum son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe. She lived in Jerusalem, in the Second District.

  이에 제사장 힐기야와 또 아히감과 악볼과 사반과 아사야가 여선지 훌다에게로 나아가니 그는 할하스의 손자 디과의 아들로서 예복을 주관하는 살룸의 아내라 예루살렘 둘째 구역에 거주하였더라 그들이 그와 더불어 말하매

 

15 She said to them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Tell the man who sent you to me,

  훌다가 그들에게 이르되 이스라엘 하나님 여호와의 말씀이 너희는 너희를 내게 보낸 사람에게 말하기를

 

16 This is what the LORD says: I am going to bring disaster on this place and its people, according to everything written in the book the king of Judah has read.

  여호와의 말씀이 내가 이 곳과 그 주민에게 재앙을 내리되 곧 유다 왕이 읽은 책의 모든 말대로 하리니

 

17 Because they have forsaken me and burned incense to other gods and provoked me to anger by all the idols their hands have made, my anger will burn against this place and will not be quenched.'

  이는 이 백성이 나를 버리고 다른 신에게 분향하며 그들의 손의 모든 행위로 나를 격노하게 하였음이라 그러므로 내가 이 곳을 향하여 내린 진노가 꺼지지 아니하리라 하라 하셨느니라

 

18 Tell the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, 'This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says concerning the words you heard:

  너희를 보내 여호와께 묻게 한 유다 왕에게는 너희가 이렇게 말하라 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와가 이같이 말씀하셨느니라 네가 들은 말들에 대하여는

 

19 Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before the LORD when you heard what I have spoken against this place and its people, that they would become accursed and laid waste, and because you tore your robes and wept in my presence, I have heard you, declares the LORD.

  내가 이 곳과 그 주민에게 대하여 빈 터가 되고 저주가 되리라 한 말을 네가 듣고 마음이 부드러워져서 여호와 앞 곧 내 앞에서 겸비하여 옷을 찢고 통곡하였으므로 나도 네 말을 들었노라 여호와가 말하였느니라

 

20 Therefore I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be buried in peace. Your eyes will not see all the disaster I am going to bring on this place.' " So they took her answer back to the king.

  그러므로 보라 내가 너로 너의 조상들에게 돌아가서 평안히 묘실로 들어가게 하리니 내가 이 곳에 내리는 모든 재앙을 네 눈이 보지 못하리라 하셨느니라 하니 사자들이 왕에게 보고하니라

1 Then the king called together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.

  왕이 보내 유다와 예루살렘의 모든 장로를 자기에게로 모으고

 

2 He went up to the temple of the LORD with the men of Judah, the people of Jerusalem, the priests and the prophets--all the people from the least to the greatest. He read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant, which had been found in the temple of the LORD.

  이에 왕이 여호와의 성전에 올라가매 유다 모든 사람과 예루살렘 주민과 제사장들과 선지자들과 모든 백성이 노소를 막론하고 다 왕과 함께 한지라 왕이 여호와의 성전 안에서 발견한 언약책의 모든 말씀을 읽어 무리의 귀에 들리고

 

3 The king stood by the pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the LORD -to follow the LORD and keep his commands, regulations and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, thus confirming the words of the covenant written in this book. Then all the people pledged themselves to the covenant.

  왕이 단 위에 서서 여호와 앞에서 언약을 세우되 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하여 여호와께 순종하고 그의 계명과 법도와 율례를 지켜 이 책에 기록된 이 언약의 말씀을 이루게 하리라 하매 백성이 다 그 언약을 따르기로 하니라

 

4 The king ordered Hilkiah the high priest, the priests next in rank and the doorkeepers to remove from the temple of the LORD all the articles made for Baal and Asherah and all the starry hosts. He burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron Valley and took the ashes to Bethel.

  왕이 대제사장 힐기야와 모든 부제사장들과 문을 지킨 자들에게 명령하여 바알과 아세라와 하늘의 일월 성신을 위하여 만든 모든 그릇들을 여호와의 성전에서 내다가 예루살렘 바깥 기드론 밭에서 불사르고 그것들의 재를 벧엘로 가져가게 하고

 

5 He did away with the pagan priests appointed by the kings of Judah to burn incense on the high places of the towns of Judah and on those around Jerusalem--those who burned incense to Baal, to the sun and moon, to the constellations and to all the starry hosts.

  옛적에 유다 왕들이 세워서 유다 모든 성읍과 예루살렘 주위의 산당들에서 분향하며 우상을 섬기게 한 제사장들을 폐하며 또 바알과 해와 달과 별 떼와 하늘의 모든 별에게 분향하는 자들을 폐하고

 

6 He took the Asherah pole from the temple of the LORD to the Kidron Valley outside Jerusalem and burned it there. He ground it to powder and scattered the dust over the graves of the common people.

  또 여호와의 성전에서 아세라 상을 내다가 예루살렘 바깥 기드론 시내로 가져다 거기에서 불사르고 빻아서 가루를 만들어 그 가루를 평민의 묘지에 뿌리고

 

7 He also tore down the quarters of the male shrine prostitutes, which were in the temple of the LORD and where women did weaving for Asherah.

  또 여호와의 성전 가운데 남창의 집을 헐었으니 그 곳은 여인이 아세라를 위하여 휘장을 짜는 처소였더라

 

8 Josiah brought all the priests from the towns of Judah and desecrated the high places, from Geba to Beersheba, where the priests had burned incense. He broke down the shrines at the gates--at the entrance to the Gate of Joshua, the city governor, which is on the left of the city gate.

  또 유다 각 성읍에서 모든 제사장을 불러오고 또 제사장이 분향하던 산당을 게바에서부터 브엘세바까지 더럽게 하고 또 성문의 산당들을 헐어 버렸으니 이 산당들은 그 성읍의 지도자 여호수아의 대문 어귀 곧 성문 왼쪽에 있었더라

 

9 Although the priests of the high places did not serve at the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, they ate unleavened bread with their fellow priests.

  산당들의 제사장들은 예루살렘 여호와의 제단에 올라가지 못하고 다만 그의 형제 중에서 무교병을 먹을 뿐이었더라

 

10 He desecrated Topheth, which was in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, so no one could use it to sacrifice his son or daughter in the fire to Molech.

  왕이 또 힌놈의 아들 골짜기의 도벳을 더럽게 하여 어떤 사람도 몰록에게 드리기 위하여 자기의 자녀를 불로 지나가지 못하게 하고

 

11 He removed from the entrance to the temple of the LORD the horses that the kings of Judah had dedicated to the sun. They were in the court near the room of an official named Nathan-Melech. Josiah then burned the chariots dedicated to the sun.

  또 유다 여러 왕이 태양을 위하여 드린 말들을 제하여 버렸으니 이 말들은 여호와의 성전으로 들어가는 곳의 근처 내시 나단멜렉의 집 곁에 있던 것이며 또 태양 수레를 불사르고

 

12 He pulled down the altars the kings of Judah had erected on the roof near the upper room of Ahaz, and the altars Manasseh had built in the two courts of the temple of the LORD. He removed them from there, smashed them to pieces and threw the rubble into the Kidron Valley.

  유다 여러 왕이 아하스의 다락 지붕에 세운 제단들과 므낫세가 여호와의 성전 두 마당에 세운 제단들을 왕이 다 헐고 거기서 빻아내려서 그것들의 가루를 기드론 시내에 쏟아 버리고

 

13 The king also desecrated the high places that were east of Jerusalem on the south of the Hill of Corruption--the ones Solomon king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the vile goddess of the Sidonians, for Chemosh the vile god of Moab, and for Molech the detestable god of the people of Ammon.

  또 예루살렘 앞 멸망의 산 오른쪽에 세운 산당들을 왕이 더럽게 하였으니 이는 옛적에 이스라엘 왕 솔로몬이 시돈 사람의 가증한 아스다롯과 모압 사람의 가증한 그모스와 암몬 자손의 가증한 밀곰을 위하여 세웠던 것이며

 

14 Josiah smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles and covered the sites with human bones.

  왕이 또 석상들을 깨뜨리며 아세라 목상들을 찍고 사람의 해골로 그 곳에 채웠더라

 

15 Even the altar at Bethel, the high place made by Jeroboam son of Nebat, who had caused Israel to sin--even that altar and high place he demolished. He burned the high place and ground it to powder, and burned the Asherah pole also.

  또한 이스라엘에게 범죄하게 한 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 벧엘에 세운 제단과 산당을 왕이 헐고 또 그 산당을 불사르고 빻아서 가루를 만들며 또 아세라 목상을 불살랐더라

 

16 Then Josiah looked around, and when he saw the tombs that were there on the hillside, he had the bones removed from them and burned on the altar to defile it, in accordance with the word of the LORD proclaimed by the man of God who foretold these things.

  요시야가 몸을 돌이켜 산에 있는 무덤들을 보고 보내어 그 무덤에서 해골을 가져다가 제단 위에서 불살라 그 제단을 더럽게 하니라 이 일을 하나님의 사람이 전하였더니 그 전한 여호와의 말씀대로 되었더라

 

17 The king asked, "What is that tombstone I see?" The men of the city said, "It marks the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and pronounced against the altar of Bethel the very things you have done to it."

  요시야가 이르되 내게 보이는 저것은 무슨 비석이냐 하니 성읍 사람들이 그에게 말하되 왕께서 벧엘의 제단에 대하여 행하신 이 일을 전하러 유다에서 왔던 하나님의 사람의 묘실이니이다 하니라

 

18 "Leave it alone," he said. "Don't let anyone disturb his bones." So they spared his bones and those of the prophet who had come from Samaria.

  이르되 그대로 두고 그의 뼈를 옮기지 말라 하매 무리가 그의 뼈와 사마리아에서 온 선지자의 뼈는 그대로 두었더라

 

19 Just as he had done at Bethel, Josiah removed and defiled all the shrines at the high places that the kings of Israel had built in the towns of Samaria that had provoked the LORD to anger.

  전에 이스라엘 여러 왕이 사마리아 각 성읍에 지어서 여호와를 격노하게 한 산당을 요시야가 다 제거하되 벧엘에서 행한 모든 일대로 행하고

 

20 Josiah slaughtered all the priests of those high places on the altars and burned human bones on them. Then he went back to Jerusalem.

  또 거기 있는 산당의 제사장들을 다 제단 위에서 죽이고 사람의 해골을 제단 위에서 불사르고 예루살렘으로 돌아왔더라

 

 

 

 

21 The king gave this order to all the people: "Celebrate the Passover to the LORD your God, as it is written in this Book of the Covenant."

  왕이 뭇 백성에게 명령하여 이르되 이 언약책에 기록된 대로 너희의 하나님 여호와를 위하여 유월절을 지키라 하매

 

22 Not since the days of the judges who led Israel, nor throughout the days of the kings of Israel and the kings of Judah, had any such Passover been observed.

  사사가 이스라엘을 다스리던 시대부터 이스라엘 여러 왕의 시대와 유다 여러 왕의 시대에 이렇게 유월절을 지킨 일이 없었더니

 

23 But in the eighteenth year of King Josiah, this Passover was celebrated to the LORD in Jerusalem.

  요시야 왕 열여덟째 해에 예루살렘에서 여호와 앞에 이 유월절을 지켰더라

 

24 Furthermore, Josiah got rid of the mediums and spiritists, the household gods, the idols and all the other detestable things seen in Judah and Jerusalem. This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the temple of the LORD.

  요시야가 또 유다 땅과 예루살렘에 보이는 신접한 자와 점쟁이와 드라빔과 우상과 모든 가증한 것을 다 제거하였으니 이는 대제사장 힐기야가 여호와의 성전에서 발견한 책에 기록된 율법의 말씀을 이루려 함이라

 

25 Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the LORD as he did--with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses.

  요시야와 같이 마음을 다하며 뜻을 다하며 힘을 다하여 모세의 모든 율법을 따라 여호와께로 돌이킨 왕은 요시야 전에도 없었고 후에도 그와 같은 자가 없었더라

 

26 Nevertheless, the LORD did not turn away from the heat of his fierce anger, which burned against Judah because of all that Manasseh had done to provoke him to anger.

  그러나 여호와께서 유다를 향하여 내리신 그 크게 타오르는 진노를 돌이키지 아니하셨으니 이는 므낫세가 여호와를 격노하게 한 그 모든 격노 때문이라

 

27 So the LORD said, "I will remove Judah also from my presence as I removed Israel, and I will reject Jerusalem, the city I chose, and this temple, about which I said, 'There shall my Name be.' "

  여호와께서 이르시되 내가 이스라엘을 물리친 것 같이 유다도 내 앞에서 물리치며 내가 택한 이 성 예루살렘과 내 이름을 거기에 두리라 한 이 성전을 버리리라 하셨더라

 

28 As for the other events of Josiah's reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?

  요시야의 남은 사적과 행한 모든 일은 유다 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐

 

29 While Josiah was king, Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt went up to the Euphrates River to help the king of Assyria. King Josiah marched out to meet him in battle, but Neco faced him and killed him at Megiddo.

  요시야 당시에 애굽의 왕 바로 느고가 앗수르 왕을 치고자 하여 유브라데 강으로 올라가므로 요시야 왕이 맞서 나갔더니 애굽 왕이 요시야를 므깃도에서 만났을 때에 죽인지라

 

30 Josiah's servants brought his body in a chariot from Megiddo to Jerusalem and buried him in his own tomb. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz son of Josiah and anointed him and made him king in place of his father.

  신복들이 그의 시체를 병거에 싣고 므깃도에서 예루살렘으로 돌아와 그의 무덤에 장사하니 백성들이 요시야의 아들 여호아하스를 데려다가 그에게 기름을 붓고 그의 아버지를 대신하여 왕으로 삼았더라

 

31 Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother's name was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah; she was from Libnah.

  여호아하스가 왕이 될 때에 나이가 이십삼 세라 예루살렘에서 석 달간 다스리니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 하무달이라 립나 예레미야의 딸이더라

 

32 He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, just as his fathers had done.

  여호아하스가 그의 조상들의 모든 행위대로 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하였더니

 

33 Pharaoh Neco put him in chains at Riblah in the land of Hamath so that he might not reign in Jerusalem, and he imposed on Judah a levy of a hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.

  바로 느고가 그를 하맛 땅 립나에 가두어 예루살렘에서 왕이 되지 못하게 하고 또 그 나라로 은 백 달란트와 금 한 달란트를 벌금으로 내게 하고

 

34 Pharaoh Neco made Eliakim son of Josiah king in place of his father Josiah and changed Eliakim's name to Jehoiakim. But he took Jehoahaz and carried him off to Egypt, and there he died.

  바로 느고가 요시야의 아들 엘리아김을 그의 아버지 요시야를 대신하여 왕으로 삼고 그의 이름을 고쳐 여호야김이라 하고 여호아하스는 애굽으로 잡아갔더니 그가 거기서 죽으니라

 

35 Jehoiakim paid Pharaoh Neco the silver and gold he demanded. In order to do so, he taxed the land and exacted the silver and gold from the people of the land according to their assessments.

  여호야김이 은과 금을 바로에게 주니라 그가 바로 느고의 명령대로 그에게 그 돈을 주기 위하여 나라에 부과하되 백성들 각 사람의 힘대로 액수를 정하고 은금을 징수하였더라

 

36 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. His mother's name was Zebidah daughter of Pedaiah; she was from Rumah.

  여호야김이 왕이 될 때에 나이가 이십오 세라 예루살렘에서 십일 년간 다스리니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 스비다라 루마 브다야의 딸이더라

 

37 And he did evil in the eyes of the LORD, just as his fathers had done.

  여호야김이 그의 조상들이 행한 모든 일을 따라서 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하였더라
